Pro-family Reaction to California June 5 Election Results
Anti-tax-hike voters glad about Prop. 29 defeat and clear choices in U.S. Senate contest

Sacramento, California -- In light of the defeat of the Proposition 29 cigarette tax and clear contrasts emerging in California's U.S. Senate contest, Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, which promotes moral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statements.

Regarding the defeat of Proposition 29, which would have taxed cigarettes $1 more per pack, creating an expensive new government bureaucracy to fund a medical establishment that largely ignores holistic cancer treatment:

"Whether they smoke or not, California voters have sent a message to liberal forces that tax hikes of any kind on the ballot will be vigorously opposed and decisively overcome. More people are realizing that if you approve a tax on someone else, the next tax will be on you and your family."

Regarding Republican Elizabeth Emken facing off with Democrat U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein in November:

"Families that believe in protecting marriage and the sanctity of human life, and who oppose higher taxes, have hope now that Emken, who shares their values, will face off with Feinstein, who doesn't. The intrigue in this race isn't about whether Feinstein will win an elusive fifth term, but is about whether liberal values that aren't working will be repudiated by parents and grandparents who are deeply concerned for their children's futures."

SaveCalifornia.com provides this solely for educational purposes and does not support or oppose candidates for public office.
