Sacramento, California (April 25, 2018) -- Will California's conservatives compute correctly to ensure their values will win on Election Day? In response to the latest poll on the California governor's race, Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a leading family issues organization supporting moral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statement:

"While no informed Californian questions that a Democrat will be one of the 'Top 2' vote-getters in the June primary election, it's still a question whether a Republican will snag the remaining 'Top 2' slot. Yet now that John Cox has scored noticeably higher than fellow Republican Travis Allen in the last two polls of likely voters, it's obvious that he's got the best chance to make the November election a conservative versus a liberal, not two Democrats versus each other."

"Will California conservatives do their math correctly? With California's jungle primary system, only the 'Top 2' vote-getters advance to the general election. With two weeks until voting by mail begins, is a vote for Travis Allen a vote for Antonio Villaraigosa, since that costs Cox conservatives' votes? Right now, it appears that either Cox or Villaraigosa has the best chance of being the second-highest vote-getter, and each need all the votes he can get to edge out the other."

As Democrats Gavin Newsom and Antonio Villaraigosa battle to be Top Dog in California's 06/05/18 Top-2 primary, Republican John Cox is in their rear-view mirror, flashing his high-beams, according to SurveyUSA research conducted for KABC-TV Los Angeles, KPIX-TV San Francisco, KGTV-TV San Diego, the Union Tribune Newspaper, and KFSN-TV Fresno.

Newsom at 21% remains the front-runner in the contest, which is just fluid enough that neither Villaraigosa at 18% nor Cox at 15% can be called a clear #2. All 3 have an opportunity to advance to the 11/06/18 runoff election, though, if Cox and Villaraigosa advance and Newsom is odd-man-out, that would be a stunning upset.

(March 21, 2018) PPIC poll of 931 likely voters (±4.5 percent)
Democrat Gavin Newsom (28%) is the top choice among likely voters, followed by Republican John Cox (14%), Democrat Antonio Villaraigosa (12%), Republican Travis Allen (10%), and Democrats John Chiang (6%) and Delaine Eastin (5%). A quarter of likely voters (24%) are still undecided. In the January PPIC poll, Newsom (23%) and Villaraigosa (21%) were in a virtual tie, with 7 percent supporting Cox.
