Risky for Democrat state legislators to try to repeal Prop. 8
Senate Leader Darrell Steinberg says he's "open" to attacking people's vote

Sacramento, California -- Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a leading family values organization that promotes moral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statement regarding the plan of the top Democrat state legislator, Darrell Steinberg, to attack the people's vote in 2008 to reserve marriage licenses for a man and a woman.

"If Democrat politicians attack the people's vote on natural man-woman marriage, they risking losing seats in the Central Valley, the Inland Empire, Orange County and other parts of the state where the vote for Proposition 8 was very strong," Thomasson said. "If the Democrats have hit their zenith in this general election year where a weak Republican presidential candidate handed them more seats, they could fall on their own swords in the next election by aggressively contravening Latino and black voters, who overwhelming supported the uniqueness of man-woman marriage in 2008."

"Do Bakersfield's Michael Rubio and Rudy Salas really want to go to war against 75% of Kern County voters who demanded marriage remain between a man and a woman?," Thomasson asked. "Does Fullerton's Sharon Quirk-Silva not fear offending the strong majority of Orange County voters who supported Prop. 8? Does Riverside County's Richard Roth dare think local voters, where nearly two-thirds oppose homosexual "marriages," not notice? These are heart-and-soul issues and deeply-felt religious and family sentiments that no one should belittle."
