Statement on Jerry Brown's veto of unionized childcare
'A relief for many childcare providers -- mothers, grandmothers, and others'

Sacramento, California -- Randy Thomasson, president of SaveCalifornia.com, a leading pro-family organization promoting moral virtues for the common good, issued the following statement in response to Gov. Jerry Brown's veto of AB 101, to unionize in-home childcare, forcing it in many cases:

"This is a relief for many childcare providers -- mothers, grandmothers, and others -- who, for financial concerns or conscience reasons, do not wish to be forced to pay union dues. This money-grabbing proposal would have required childcare providers who care for kids receiving state subsidies to pay out more, thus raising costs for working parents, and ultimately raising the cost of state government.

"Brown should also veto SB 126, which unfairly manipulates businesses to unionize, thus raising prices for consumers everywhere. This inequitable bill means an unsubstantiated claim of 'interference' with an effort to unionize could result in a heavy-handed state ruling forcing a farmer or other business owner to unionize, thus raising costs, killing jobs, halting production due to strikes, and increasing the prices of food and other necessities for California families."
